Hanging Mayan Hammocks
The Classic and Single Hammocks are supplied with attachment ropes, which offer plenty of scope for adjustment. Mayan Hammocks are designed to hang loose between hanging points - these hammocks are not intended to be pulled tight like a trampoline!
The ideal distance between the two hanging points is approximately 13 feet (4 meters) at a hanging height of 5 feet (1.5 meter). If the distance between the two hanging points is greater than 13 feet (4 meters), the hanging height will need to increase by a ratio of 2 : 1. This means that when the horizontal distance increases by 2 ft (600 cms) the height will need to increase by approximately 1ft (300 cms).
If the distance between the two hanging points is less than 11 feet (3.3 meters) the hanging height needs to increase, so the low centre-point of the hammock does not touch the ground. Mayan Hammocks traditionally hang in a ‘deep’ U shape, to allow the occupant(s) to lie diagonally or perpendicular to the load-line. Adjusting the shape of the U is a matter of personal preference.
